It's the American System that gives some men the power to start wars few Americans believe necessary and fewer want to fight. It's the American System that allows men to steal from state and national treasuries, bankrupting the nation and mortgaging our children's and grandchildren's futures, and steal from other citizens with grossly overpriced wares. It's the American System that allows wealthy and powerful citizens to move corporate jobs overseas to take advantage of poorer people, plunging millions of Americans below the poverty line while creating larger profits for themselves. It's the American System that denies affordable health insurance to millions of citizens and approves the pharmaceutical industry's outrageous overpricing of essential medications. It's the American System that allows some men to make laws imposing their prejudices and superstitions upon others. . If we want a fairer, more secure future for ourselves and our children than the one American political and economic rulers have planned for us, it's the American System that must be changed, and it must be changed quickly before the republic slides into a condition more oppressive than the one from which it evolved. The obvious way to create such a fairer society is to initiate a form of governance in which ALL citizens participate in the operation and maintenance of government, not just those opportunists who volunteer. This would automatically minimize the influence of money. Of course, this means changing the current representative democracy to a direct democracy. |
Throughout the planet, the common people are rising up demanding participation in government's decision-making. Direct Democracy groups form everywhere. The only bit of advice, therefore, I would like to give you in this letter is for the party not only to advocate in its constitution all the things stated above, but for it to ride the wave of change by altering its name to the "Direct Democracy Party of the United States." This would be an appropriate and effective strategy, and leave little doubt in the minds of the electorate what the party stands for. On this website you will find a proposed constitution for such a political party. If you were to go to the archive section of the site you can read about a fictional direct democracy called "America" and some fundamental benefits such a form of governance can provide a society of people willing to do whatever is necessary to enjoy true freedom. I believe the structure of fictional America as envisoned is a sound beginning upon which to build a strong, effective, real-world direct democracy. And if you were to download the book called "A Theory of Subversion," found only on this website, you will find in Chapter VII a strategy for implementing such a society in the U.S. I hope you give these suggestions sincere consideration, for the American middle and lower economic classes are waiting to hear from you. Upon contemplation, you will find that a direct democracy, such as fictional America, is the only form of government that can stop the capitalist juggernaut in its tracks, and the only form of governance that offers our species a chance to create a fairer, happier social environment on planet Earth. ![]() |
