During the program of economic destabilization, the CIA had been funding, training, and instigating the Chilian military to revolt and takeover the government and, in September 1973, it successfully executed a coup.
What was Allende's crime? As other popular leaders before him, he was guilty of trying to help the poor of his country escape abject poverty and limit Chile's dependence upon the U.S. and other western countries.

Nor in 1964... when rulers of the U.S. initiated a subversive CIA financed program to oust the populist government of Equador headed by Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra. The program included creating phony "leftist" organizations and unions to mislead and confuse the Peruvian workers, bribing officials at all levels of government, starting riots, and bombing churches and right-wing organizations making everything look as if leftists were responsible.
Ibarra's crime? He had refused to jail members of the country's Communist Party or break relationships with Cuba.

Nor in 1965... when U.S. rulers sent CIA forces, aided by Green Beret troops, to Peru where the Americans built a fortress in the middle of the Peruvian jungle, brought in helicopters, combat equipment and weapons, and trained the Peruvian police and army to fight the annoying peasant rebel forces. The small groups of poorly armed, rag-tag peasants were quickly defeated. Their crime: they had dared to demand social and economic improvements from the oligarchic government.

These are just a handful of the dozens of countries in which the U.S. has interfered to prevent populist government from seeing the light of day. Interference that has caused the deaths of millions of innocent people.

Considering the historical record of U.S. rulers interfering with countries that have tried to bring democratic government to their people, why should we believe Bush's claim about Iraq?

Unfortunately, in the glitzy, illusory world of ours, created by a fawning media industry, it is impossible for millions of Americans, ignorant of the republic's full uncensored history, to understand that the men controlling our republic are—and have always been—an aggressive, greedy bunch who have utilized the republic's great natural resources and the bodies of young Americans

to bully and steal the resources of smaller nations. Underneath their civilized veneer they are callously indifferent to human rights, and contemptuous of the intelligence of ordinary working Americans. Today, the U.S. possesses the most destructive, fearsome war machine the planet has ever seen, which it uses to obliterate any opposition. Cowardly congressmen have recently approved another $81-billion for the military, above and beyond the $300-million already funded. This, while they reduce and delete social programs for lack of money.
Because they must justify their expensive weapons and systems of destruction and the existence, of a massive military during peacetime, our rulers create phony crisises. Since the end of WWII, they have created created one after the other from the "Cold War" with Russia to their phony "War on Terrorism".

This is why other people on the planet love and admire America for its accomplishments, but also fear it for its two-faced government and its viciousness.
And if you still don't understand the point being made in this article, and on this website, it is that the men who control the power of the U.S. are the planet's bullys; instigators of violence and wars. They have made the U.S. the planet's most dangerous nation, which they do for selfish reasons and the joy of wielding power over millions of people. The major beneficiaries of it all are the suppliers of war materials and militry support systems, and the financial industry, both of which which love and thrive on war.
Unregulated power is the enemy of all people. In the United States, some men have been allowed to accumulate enormous wealth and great power because of the lackadaisical attitude of millions of Americans toward politics.
However, if we wish to leave our children and grandchildren a better place to live than this, we must change the American political system from one in which few groups can accumulate such power, to one that diffuses the power of government by placing it into the hands of all citizens, so that all may benefit from the nation's enormous resources. The only possible way to accomplish this is to change the U.S. from a representative to a direct democracy.
Realistically, such a change would be nothing more than the next logical step in humanity's evolution toward maturity and true civilization.
